Orders will remain open (i.e. not listed as Complete) until each item in the order is completely fulfilled.
The Order Status will not move to Complete until every item on the order is listed with a Item Status of "Shipped" and a Drop Ship Status of "Completed".
The Drop Ship and Item Statuses show you where an item is in the order lifecycle.

dropship360 gives you the option of automatically alerting customers via email when tracking information is returned on an item.
To enable this head to Configuration/Setup and choose "Yes" under the "Email Customer when Tracking is Added" option.
